Room of the Week 6.28

As I get ready to move into my new apartment, I'm realizing that my dreams of having my own space to decorate in girly pink style are going to have to be put on hold, as I don't think my roommate will allow it (boys are so picky!) So instead, I've collected a few of my favorite pink rooms to share here.

I love this outdoor space featured in last month's Domino. It's bohemian chic!

I think this bedroom feels like it's floating in a cloud of cotton candy... but in a good way. The softness and placement of the pink is perfect, and the simplicity of the room is quite serene.

This is a room for a true glamor girl. I love the contrast of the black on pink, and the different textures used.

Carry On

For all of you Project Runway addicts out there (yes, i know, the first season was the best) I have found the poster for you. Or rather, to give credit where it's due, I found it on one of my favorite blogs: sfgirlbybay and immediately placed an order. You can get it here at: Barter Books UK or place an order through Victoria.

I can just hear Tim Gunn's voice in my head saying "Carry on..." which makes me smile. But besides that, it's red, it's British, and it has a royal crown on it. What's not to love? I'm putting this right next to my "For Like Ever" poster that I ordered after seeing it (along with the rest of the world) on the cover of Domino last year. In case you missed it, you can buy it here at: Village

Tord Boontje is a Genius

It always seems to happen that halfway through the day on a friend's birthday I realize I haven't done my gift shopping... and that's when I opt for running to the market and creating a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The only problem - what to put them in? Most places carry those HIDEOUS generic glass vases that I promptly throw away. Solution? Stock up on this vase cover from designer Tord Boontje that I found while browsing the Koo de Kir website.

This lovely piece from the coveted designer easily wraps around a vase and is a gift in itself! I'm thinking of keeping a stash in my car for emergencies from now on :)

Room of the Week 6.21

Since I skipped the Room of the Week last Thursday, I'm putting up a few of my faves today that feature some little details that I love!

Since I've been spending my days packing boxes to make the move from Seattle to LA I've begun to appreciate the art of simple living. Less clutter lets you focus on the pieces that really make up a room, and this bedroom really emphasizes that. I love the idea of placing a canopy over the bed to create its own space, adding an element that breaks up the floor to ceiling white while complimenting the other black and white accents in the room. I also love the little pops of pink. It softens the look of the room and adds a feminine touch. Most of all, I just love how clean and open this space is! It really has a peaceful feel to it.

I actually ripped this page out of a magazine years ago and then found it on the Domino website recently, so I had to put it up here. Another example of a clean white look, i think it's just stunning how the gold jumps out, emphasizing the shapes of these classic chairs. Again, absent of a lot of clutter, the room lets you focus on the important pieces.

When I made the transition from Jr. High to High School, I distinctly remember thinking "Ok, time to grow up!" and requesting that we redo my bedroom. I painted my walls a lovely shade of light lilac and had a duvet with a pattern of Monet-esque flowers to match. Since then, I have never once wanted to decorate with a floral pattern or lilac walls until I saw this room from the Jeffers Design Group. With just a hint of lilac, the walls glow and cool down the room, and the headboard is amazing! The modern pattern with ornate traditional detailing really creates a lovely focal point. I also love how the lamps blend into the walls. Again, a very clean design.

Pretty as a Peacock

Ok, time for a new obsession: Peacock Plumes. Reminiscent of art deco design (a big theme for fall!), I'm starting to really appreciate the gorgeous pattern that they create - especially when captured in simple black and white, like this pillow from Thomas Paul.

Bright citrus colors on this incredibly fancy glass pen cup from Superdeluxe NYC really makes the pattern pop!

This wallpaper is one of my favorites from Villa Nova whose current Florence collection has some amazing designs. This one is called Greta and comes in a variety of fabulous colors, including this chocolate and aqua combo. Definitely check out their site to see the rest of the collection.

For the Summer Table

From time to time I browse through CS Post & CO. to see what new kitchy/country items they've added, and the second I stumbled upon these plates, I had to put them up. For those who love all things Cath Kidtson or shabby chic, these melamine dishes are a steal! I can already see them gracing the tables at my next little garden party...

Mono y Mono

Who doesn't love monograms? Ok, so the trend got a little obnoxious a few years back, but on the right pieces a monogram is quite classic ~ not to mention that it's the perfect go-to gift for weddings and house warmings. So, in the true spirit of giving, here are a few of my faves:

These Monogrammed Coasters by Sarah Ridgley make a perfect little hostess or housewarming gift, or a great personal addition to a wedding gift (like a set of bar ware). This one happens to be carried at a fun little site, Bunny Maxwell, and features a fabulous coco+kelley color combo!

Iomoi is THE site for personalized papers and accessories, and with such wonderful designs, you can't go wrong! They have a huge variety of paperweights as well as calling cards, stationery and more to choose from.

A favorite monogram pillow of mine, this one is truly unique as each letter has been hand drawn by the artist. Carried on Rare Device, a store out of NYC.

THIS Paris I Can Deal With.

It's too bad that Paris Hilton has ruined such a good name, but with this fabulous table from Eboniste - the new Paris Console - we're hoping for a turnaround.

The curvy lines create a strong silhouette and the best part is that it's hand carved from reclaimed elm, so you don't have to feel (too) guilty about this purchase ;)

A few other tables available through Eboniste that I can't get enough of...

While the Drexler design is quite civilized, the clean lines of this table make it easy to incorporate into a more modern scheme as well.

The Hollywood table is not nearly as anorexic as it's name infers, and thank goodness. The hourglass outline provides a wonderful shape.

The Jacqui tea table, designed by Bungalow 5, is of course a constant favorite, and in this vibrant yellow it livens up any living space!

Got the Blues?

When color trends from fashion cross over to interior design they can sometimes get... well, a little trendy. But after falling in love with the french blue featured in Oscar de la Renta's Spring Collection I was thrilled to see it popping up on the pages of interior design magazines and catalogs!

The room on the left is from the latest West Elm collection, and the right is (of course!) a luxurious linen throw pillow from Thomas Paul.

I also loved the blue in this bedroom featured in Domino - especially the pattern on the bed linens.

Room of the Week 6.7

Someone at Domino Magazinee has been stalking me. Ok, not really, but how much does this gorgeous outdoor setup (featured in last month's issue)...

...resemble the color scheme and fabrics from a project board I did in November?

I love a little affirmation that maybe my design sense is quite spot on ;)

More Lovely Letterpress...

I've been singing the praises of Plume Press since discovering them over a year ago, and it's about time I gave this bay area designer a little mention.

The invitations feature beautifully layered letterpress designs that are intricate and elegant, and the quality is superb. These are two of my favorite designs from their portfolio, both of which I find absolutely yummy.

I love the sunny yellow and chocolate brown!

The layers of detail in this one are amazing.

Well, Well, Well...

I'm always excited to receive the latest issue of Domino in the mail, but have to admit to being somewhat thrilled to see the cover featuring my two favorite colors...

Long live the coco+kelley combo ;)

Say Bonjour to New Bedding

My adoration for Bonjour linens out of Switzerland began with their Gloriosa design years ago...

And this latest addition to their Schlossberg Collection did not disappoint!

Somehow these pop-art-esque designs manage to maintain a natural simplicity that doesn't overwhelm the bedroom while staying completely unique and bright! I'm not usually one for floral, but I'd gladly take any of these patterns into my bed.
