ROOM OF THE WEEK 2.17

As much as I love a beautiful, polished space, I will readily admit that it's just not me. My favorite rooms are definitely the ones that have a little more organic character to them...

Something a bit more like this! The space still holds some glamorous gems, like the lucite coffee table and velveteen chair (how stunning are the lines in the piece, by the way?), but elements like the sisal rug, country-inspired daybed and industrial desk area bring a casual feel to the room that balances things out so nicely. And let's talk for a minute about that wall! I can't tell if it's faux or real, but the distressed finish is reminiscent of aging frescoes in Italian villas, and therefore quite fantastic, if you ask me! Not to mention a huge space dedicated to an inspiration board. Yes please!

Sadly, I have no idea where this image came from (a little help?) so can't offer much insight to the actual function of this space, but it looks like an office area to me (see the other little desk to the left?) I, however, would feel right at home making this my living room. Would you?

Birthday Party Inspiration: Pink + Organic

While most two-year-olds might not select such a sophisticated and stylish palette for their birthday, I think blog years are like dog years - we're way ahead of our time around here. So, for my 2nd Blog Birthday, I'd love to have a table set like this...

The inspiration for this look came from a photo by Mikkel Vang (that I believe was for Gourmet Magazine), which I immediately tore out and tucked away for such a celebration. I wanted to recreate an organic-meets-hacienda style tabletop with a touch of glamour (of course!).

Pink peonies would be a must - preferably those really dark ones - tucked into a variety of glass vases and scattered down the table along with lots of candlelight. And, the paper mache bird makes for a sweet little gift at each setting, while the gold and wood contrasts have me swooning! Won't you join me for a summery evening on the patio? It's quite warm enough in Seattle (believe it or not) for us to stay out until the sun goes down!

I Love...

This stunning, stunning, STUNNING 'Meteor Table' from Vivre. With only six available, this is truly a limited edition. Natural teak root cast entirely in bronze. Can we say ORGLAMIC? If I had 55k to drop on this piece, I would do it in a second.

orGLAMic

or-glam-ic: When natural or organic materials used for design meet modern glamour decor.

Shall we use it in a sentence..?

This dining room is positively orGLAMic.

Or, it could be used as an adjective...

This bedroom makes me orGLAMic.

Ok, perhaps that's taking it a bit too far...

But I've been searching for a way to describe my aesthetic lately, and I think that's it. I love a clean glamorous or modern style, but I have to have some warmth to balance it. I love using raw woods or materials with wonderful texture along with sleek pieces in materials like acrylic, lacquer, or mirrored surfaces with simple modern silhouettes.

And yes, the innuendo is intentional. Because really, how else should you feel about the space your inhabiting? So, what do you think? Have I lost my mind, or will orGLAMic catch on? ;)
