My dears, I'm taking a break from our regularly scheduled Work Wear to bring you a few scenes from what has been an amazing tour back east. The husband and I have had a ball soaking up the sun, people watching and leisurely strolling through as many parts of town in each place we've visited. Our stay in DC couldn't have been more lovely. I could have wandered the sweet streets of Georgetown for days on end.

COCKTAILS AT SIX: THE STARLIGHT ROYALE

I was reminiscing today of my recent trip to Niagara Falls. I was such a lucky girl to find myself tagging along on my spouse’s business trip over a long weekend.

While his days were filled with meetings & note taking, mine were filled with site seeing, vineyards & lunching with fast-made girlfriends (sigh). Now we’re back home & all I need to take us back is an evening in front of the 1953 thriller Niagara starring Marilyn Monroe - & a champagne cocktail of course. Champagne & Marilyn certainly do seem to match my Niagara Falls mood perfectly.

The Starlight Royale

2 1/4 cups freshly squeezed lime juice, plus extra for rims
1 1/2 cups gin
1/2 cup superfine sugar
1 bottle brut Champagne or sparkling wine
Fine sanding sugar for rims
Grenadine

Mix lime juice, gin, and superfine sugar in a 2-quart pitcher; chill until ready to serve (several hours). To serve, dip rims of glasses in lime juice, then sanding sugar, to coat with 1-inch wide band. Measure 4 ounces Champagne into cocktail shaker filled with ice. Add 3 1/2 ounces lime juice and gin mixture, and shake; strain into 2 glasses, and add 2 to 3 drops of grenadine to each. Repeat. Serves 12.

Nok & Choke in Pre Wedding Photo

Pre wedding photo, was one of a series of events in preparing for a wedding. Pre wedding photo would normally be included in the invitation. Or the photo will be printed large to be used as decoration along the left-right path or a red carpet into the aisle as a substitute receptionist.

For all neatly arranged and there would need to pre wedding checklist. Preparation includes clothing, rings, decorations, buildings, banquet, car bridesmaid and so forth. Because marriage is a party where in it would combine two large families who of course have great similarities and differences as well.

Happy {Dancin' Shoes} Weekend

I must say being on vacation is rather grand. I'm so loving lazy days, warm temps and catching up with family and friends. But we'll really be kicking into high gear this weekend as we head to NYC! I've got a ton of resautaurants to choose from (thanks to your wonderful suggestions), more friends, new and old to meet and greet, and then there's the main event: getting all gussied up to celebrate...

Sunny, fresh, eclectic and just the right dose of classic femininity...

I've adored this interior shot since first setting eyes on it. There's a certain amount of quirk (the unexpected midcentury lamp and wire dog art piece that show off the owner's personality) combined with cheery but refined color on traditional pieces like the dining chairs and chesterfield sofa. The art pieces are divine and so are those huge windows! I also really love the soft grey walls and the way they bring a sense of calm to a space where it could feel like there's a lot going on.
