COCO+KELLEY OFFICE INSPIRATION: A GARDEN PARTY

When you make your home in a city that rains 85% of the year, creating an indoor environment that chases the grey away is incredibly important for a girl like me. So, when scheming some ideas for my new office space, my thoughts immediately turned to decor that would help bring in some sunshine!

This cheerful citron settee is the one piece I'm sure I'm going to want for the space, so I'm building my design ideas around it! The first one centers on the thought of creating a bright little garden inspired space that combines casual pieces like the jute rug and garden stool with a hit of glamour and drama by adding the black crystal chandelier. A pop art rose pillow adds the finishing touch! I could easily see pulling out some of the pinks and reds in the pillow into the rest of the room too, but keeping the remaining furniture (desk, shelving, etc) in clean lined whites. What do you think my friends??

THE C+K PORTFOLIO: INSPIRATION BOARDS

It's been quite some time since I last shared any projects I've been working on outside of the blog, so I thought it appropriate that on a week where my schedule is packed with client deadlines and photo shoots you would get a little peek at what I've been working on!

Starting from scratch in this Seattle condo, we wanted to mix a little bit of glamour into a whole lot of midcentury and contemporary modern style. While I'm currently working on interior design for the entire condo, this is the board for the dining room, which may end up being my favorite part of the home...

This moodboard was for a client I worked on over the summer where I wanted to bring in some more character by adding layers of texture and pattern to their neutral furnishings. I loved how these spaces felt light and cozy at the same time, like you wouldn't be afraid to plop right down on the sofa and make yourself at home...

And finally, a really fun space to bring some inspiration to, this board was for a client in Montana who needed a little direction with using some of her current furniture but changing around the layout, and adding additional pieces to complete the room...

I'm never quite sure if these type of posts are at all interesting when you're not the client, but I hope that these boards can maybe serve as some inspiration for those of you looking for tips on renewing your home as we all start nesting for fall! And, of course, if you're at all interested in my interior or event design services, I'm always ready for new clients. Just an email away!

A SUMMER STATE OF MIND...

When I woke up yesterday to August, I had a sudden realization that my summer had already begun to slowly slip away...

So this month things might be a little more quiet around here while I take more time for moments spent in the stillness of sunlight, spontaneous weekend getaways, long evenings with friends on the patio, and a little R&R...

SERIES SUBMISSION: INSPIRATION IN THE IVY

I'm so happy to have the lovely Camille from Camille Styles here today to showcase her amazing eye for events and details. She would be a wonderful addition to coco+kelley with her entertaining tips and inspiration boards! Take it away Camille!
Today's inspiration board drew from a little fantasy of mine... over the weekend we walked the construction site where our new home is being built, and for the first time I realized that I'll have this wonderful patch of earth right outside the door of my future kitchen. Immediately my mind filled with images of climbing roses, terra cotta pots overflowing with lavender, and trailing vines covering the walls surrounding my secret garden...

There's something a bit mysterious about cascading branches of ivy (perhaps because ivy walls are so often used to conceal the most glamorous homes?), and I'd love to host a springtime party that celebrates the old-fashioned simplicity of this humble plant. Cafe tables scattered across a stone terrace, perfectly-manicured topiaries, a picnic overflowing with spring's bounty, and glowing lanterns that take the party into evening hours. Just like the namesake restaurant, it all comes together for a look that's chic and effortless with a dash of intrigue.

I have to say that I've never seen Ivy look so appealing! What a fabulous board. Ladies & gents... what do you say? I think there's always room for more event inspiration around here...

SPRINGSPIRATION PART II

The bulletin board above my desk is an ever-evolving piece of inspiration that allows my favorite color trends to appear naturally... the scheme I'm loving at the moment? Indigo + Nectarine...
Beyond the return to denim and my love of the warm neutrals in peachy or camel tones I'm really feeling that Southwestern painterly vibe for early spring. Think Georgia O'Keefe paintings and desert sunsets...
Apparently I'm also loving the idea of one main accent pillow amongst a few that blend in more naturally to the sofa... brilliant!
Of course, I always love a level of sophistication and the unexpected in my designs, which is why I was drawn to that classic tile pattern in a simple black+white as well as this short editorial from the latest Vogue... An alternate to the denim t, this ombre equipment shirt on actress Melanie Laurent is the epitome of style... and how chic is her hair? I think I just found my new everyday casual updo!

SPRINGSPIRATION

Last weekend I embraced the sunny Saturday bestowed upon us and dove into some spring inspired decorating...
Thanks to this newly acquired gorgeous spring green zig zag pillow from Fabricadabra (with just a hint of aqua at the edges of the zag), I've got a new palette to work with in the living room! The other pillow was a Target purchase from last summer, and it's just a bit more bold that I like with the sofa, but I think I can make it work.

Next? Some inspiration for room pieces and styles...
With my more traditional-styled bar and simple sofa, I'd really love to add some more modern accents to the decor, starting with lamps and maybe even a different accent chair (I've always wanted one with leather that could be worn in year after year). I'd also consider a bench or pair of stools to sit across from the coffee table to create a low conversational area. And, given the bolder pillow choices, a white lacquer coffee table might be in order!

Time for some dream hunting...
I have to admit... I've been lusting after this perfect zig zag rug since spying it at the Safavieh showroom last year at High Point. Designed by Thom Filicia (love him!), it's truly the inspiration behind this palette!

I really like the idea of adding in some more earthy pieces to balance my 'glam' decor tendencies with a few amazing mid-century styled bowls from Heath Ceramics and these glazed crackled glazed glass coasters at Anthropologie in complimentary colors. For the bar? A fabulously simple brass table lamp to warm things up a bit. For company? A pair of stools in my current favorite fresh spring green! For me? A gorgeously complete room...
