Monday Work Wear {All in Zara}

We don't have a Zara in Seattle, and as of yet you still cannot shop online  - and yet I still choose to torture myself with their monthly lookbooks - because they are always picture perfect.

You cannot go wrong with blush and black - and did you spy those square heels - love.



You can turn heads in fire engine red.


And this is what I would like as my new office uniform for, like, ever!

I may be craving color for my wardrobe, but I'm still drawn to a clean pallette at home.

These rooms are great examples of the perfect mix of textures and eras - a classic fireplace, mirror and candle stickes next to a modern buffet - stunning. Or a modern light fixture in a barn-like space. Unexpected elements and a single pop of color  help keep the neutral base seem exciting and new.

Back to Black

Cassandra may be having a color war over at coco+kelley, but the combo of muted neutrals with pops of black are ruling the day at Apt#34!

Bright Sunshiny Day

It's a very bright sunshiny day outside and while I do love me some neutrals, dearest cassandra opened my eyes to the option of color this morning and I began to contemplate bringing a little of the brightness inside.

O Mag recently profiled actress Jennifer Carpenter (yeah I didn't know who she was either) and her place certainly has a colorful pop to it.

She's got some great layering of bold color on top of a neutral base.  Loving the cream Eames (want. sigh.) topped with the bright throw.  Killer vintage-looking table lamp too.

The mix and max of textures, colors, and styles is certainly eclectic and fun.

But I always come back to my neutrals.  The bright colors are great for a sunny afternoon, but I think a room like this is going to keep me warm through the long Seattle winters.
