When I was somewhere around the age of five, I wandered into the Betsy Johnson store in Santa Monica and immediately adopted the funky, girly designer as my hero (who wouldn't at that age?). So, when I saw the villa she purchased in Mexico featured in InStyle Homes a couple years ago, the images really stuck with me. Now, with bright fuchsia, chartreuse and turquoise making a comeback, there are plenty of options out there for creating your own Betseyville!
This is the color-infused interior of Betsey's little Zihuatanejo getaway...
... now check out these ideas for decorating your own home with clean whites and bright accents, blend up some margaritas, and pretend you're basking in Mexican sunshine :)
Pair this textured white bedding from Anthropologie with some brighter pillows like the one below in eye-catching green (also from Anthropologie).
Or this pillow - one of my favorites from Koko Company. The rose pattern in this design plays one a classic Mexican print in brighthttp:// modern colors, while the one below from Urban Outfitters is more of exact replica of a Mexican tile pattern.
I love this Gypsy Chandelier from Leitmotiv. The colors are unexpected and playful in contrast with such a traditional shape. I think it would really pop against a whitewashed ceiling!
Another take on the rose pattern, this mosaic garden table from Marie-Gon offers a more modern look.
Don't forget the kitch! Collect some brightly colored pieces for the walls, like this Virgin De Guadalupe Retablo from Made in New Mexico...
... or frame these Loteria prints from Latin Works to create some visual interest.
