So much to do, so little time.
March is one of my favorite months for one reason - college basketball. I LOVE IT. I can't wait to fill out my bracket and watch some amazingly talented teams and great upsets!
This March, however, the madness will not just be on the court. You'll be seeing some little changes and additions to coco+kelley that will be keeping me very busy! On top of a little blog renovation, I'll be adding a guest blogger on the weekends who has her own renovations going on...
My friend Erin has an adorable little condo (that's it above!) in Seattle with huge potential and horrible wallpaper. She's been dreaming of revamping her space for quite some time now, and she's finally doing it! Erin will be sharing the trials and tribulations of each project as she takes it on, and will be asking you, dear readers, for input on decisions and ideas for her space. I'll post more on that in a bit...
Finally, as part of my March Madness renovations, I'll be updating my blog links. If you'd like to do a link exchange, please email me with a link to your blog! Or, if you know of an amazing blog (decor, fashion, food, music, whatever!) that you think I'd like, please pass it along!
I'm looking forward to all of these little changes and additions, and hope you'll love them! Let the madness begin :)
Room(s) of the Week 2.28
Tom Scheerer's soothing interiors have always been a source of inspiration for me, so this week I bring you two spaces designed by him...
Two spaces that are very similar! These are two different homes (one in the Bahamas, and one in Charleston), but, I'm positive that that's the exact same couch combined with a Saarinen table, and the lattice chairs. What's going on here? Did a client see one room and say "I want that," so he duplicated a similar look? Or is this a case of "If it ain't broke, why fix it?". Here's my real question - does it bother you when designers use the same look over and over, or do you consider it a 'signature look' when you see a space and know it was created by that person? I always find it interesting to look through a designer's portfolio and find pieces that are similar throughout (I swear Tom uses the Saarinen table in every home!)... but it also makes me wonder - where's the creativity in that? What do you think? Interior designers out there, I expect to hear from you on this one!
Oh, and the other question is... has anyone actually used a couch/dining table/chair combo like this in their home? I think it's beautiful, but... does it really work?

Portrait Love... Again
First of all, how freakin cute is this Osborne & Little wallpaper? Yeah, I know, I'm a little over the whole silhouette thing too, but I love the idea of this in a hallway (in lieu of your own family portraits, perhaps?) or an accent wall in a study. I mean, the flocking itself it just ridiculous.
So just when I had started to move on from the portrait search... we got this beautiful piece in at the store!
(sorry, i know it's a small photo! i'll get a bigger one!)
...I of course started searching for more portraits again, and found a few more inspiration photos.
From Paul Costello...
From Nibs blog.

Nostalgia by Matt Schwartz
No matter how many times I see them, I never grow sick of the nostalgic, aged quality of photographs like these...
This one is my absolute favorite from photographer Matt Schwartz of she hit pause studios.
A little California beach love...
I love how he gets a little naughty with the nostalgia too!
I'm pretty sure the nude in bed would look awesome above my bed... hmmm....

And The Winner Is...
Um, so a few weeks ago I blogged on the gorgeousness of the Jean Paul Gautier collection...
And a few days before that, I blogged about how much I loved Marion Cotillard and her dress selection for the SAG awards...
And then I watched the Oscars (ok, I didn't actually watch them, I just looked at the pretty dresses afterwards), and just about died when I saw two of my favorite things in one place...
Do I know how to pick 'em, or what? ;) Actually, though, I wish she would have worn the black and gold. I think it would have been more dramatic and stunning with her coloring!

Back to Black
I love black. I have an addiction to it, actually. I think Angelina Jolie and I both need help. If I could wear black every day, I think I would ~ it's classic, sophisticated, slimming... (not that Angie needs help in that department). So, when I saw this little ensemble via The Sartorialist I had to share...
Love the bag, love the gloves, LOVE the jacket... even love the thing she's got goin' on in her hair. Just a little fashion inspiration for a dull Tuesday :)

I Love...
I'm sure some of you have already seen these gorgeous 'dioramas' (can you even call them that if you're not in the 3rd grade making them out of shoeboxes?) but I love them so much I had to share.
Based on two famous pieces of art - The Great Wave off Kanagawa and Kambara, Evening Snow - these two kits are works of art in their own right. They're available at Brooklyn 5 & 10.
I've actually always enjoyed the style of classic Japanese prints, and to see them recreated into these beautiful little display pieces gives them a bit of a modern twist. And, I've definitely found myself drawn to more Asian inspired pieces lately... stay tuned for more on that!

Miss Pettigrew's Divine Set Design
The second I saw the trailer for this quirky little film, I knew I had to find some set shots to share with all of you. Set in 1939 London, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day features some gorgeous deco glamorous decor and designs that might be worth the admission to the theater.
The living room and entry...
I'm absolutely in love with the bedroom...
And some more eye candy...
With the adorable Amy Adams and wonderful Frances McDormand playing lead roles, this one's going on the must-see list for me.

Happy Fabulous Weekend!
I'm loving the preppy images from the new J. Crew catalog right now - shot in the beautiful streets of Italy. How I wish I were there!!
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Room of the Week 2.22
I was so distracted by chairs yesterday that I forgot to post my Room of the Week!
This one comes to you via Girl Meets Glamour...
The walls of this room are what really got me - without them this room would be bare and simple... and it still is, a bit, but the detailing is so fun and beautiful! Not to mention it happens to be in one of my favorite colors :) I'm so in need of a space like this right now - love the wall for inspirational tear sheets, the piles of magazines on the floor (hmmm... that looks familiar!) and a decent sized desk space.
If I could do a little furniture rearranging, however, I'd keep the desk, but ditch the heavy black asian-style armoire in favor of something to add a little more detail, color, pattern, or texture to the room. Something like...
This display cabinet with storage underneath from Pieces. The yellow could be too distracting though...
Or this one, also from Pieces, with a simple lattice pattern that would be easy to mimic with other accents in the room - like upholstering the desk chair, adding some throw pillows, or even a pair of long drapes over the windows.
I also like this piece from Jayson Home & Garden, although it wouldn't hide much as far as office supplies, etc.
This armoire from Oly might be my favorite for the shape. I wouldn't add more white to this room, so I'd probably paint it in grey to keep it neutral.

More Chair Love
It may or not be comfy, but this chair is adorable! I think I'd like it best as a casual desk chair - not something you'd want to sit in all day, but how sassy is it with that tufted leather?

A Tropicana Breakfast
It all started with the showroom at Woodson & Rummerfield.
When I saw that bold wallpaper paired with a sweet breakfast nook setting, I fell in love. I vowed that if I ever had a big airy breakfast nook filled with tall windows to drown the room in sunshine, I would use this wallpaper to bring the outdoors in.
Then last week, I stumbled upon this room...
Not exactly what I had in mind, since the wallpaper extends over into the kitchen and above the stove (yuck!)... but the outdoor setting? Absolutely! Sunlight streaming in from a little patio... *sigh* I could spend hours at that table sipping coffee and blogging away.
But then...
I saw this room in a post from Brilliant Asylum. Guess who this little set up belongs to? Ms. Nicky Hilton, whose inspiration for this room came from the decor at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Damn her for stealing my idea!! ;)
Actually, I find this a little amusing because (side story) last weekend in Vegas we kept running into those pesky little Hilton sisters and if I had to share taste with one of those two, it would definitely be Nicky. And, to give the girl some credit, she has a fun design sense - check out the rest of her rooms at Alkemie.
Oh, and if you're interested in the paper, you can find it right here.

I Love...
This pendant necklace from Sophie Gardner.
I love how larger pendants lay against tan skin in the summer... always subtle but totally sexy - and the shape of this one makes it extra unique!

Lovin' the Leather
There's something so inviting about a worn in leather chair...
Not a fan of the usual club chair look, I prefer a simplified lounger like this one from designer Piero Lissoni, available at Aram. I can just imagine how gorgeous this piece will look 50 years from now when the wood and the leather are all worn in....
I also like this style from Soane... although the avacado green with the pale cream base is a bit retro for my taste. Still, it looks quite comfy, and a nice size for an accent chair in my teeny apartment.
Another classic favorite of mine from Ralph Lauren Home. Talk about 'glamping' - this luxurious take on the generic camping chair is so fab.
For serious mid-century style, you could always go with the Arne Jacobson egg chair in the 50th Anniversary edition from Suite NY. I especially love the bronze base!
I love, LOVE, LOVE this chair from Williams-Sonoma Home. It's a gorgeous version of these leather director's chairs that I've been lusting over...
Unfortunately the WS version is suede, not leather... which seems like a poor choice as a dining chair! So, I'm curious if any of you have a favorite comfy chair that reigns over a corner of your living room, or that you've been lusting over - leather or not! Please share!!
