MORE MJOLK PLEASE...

I discovered this magical little shop a few weeks back and I'm completely obsessed with their combination of Scandanavian and Japanese design...

There's such beautiful simplicity in the pieces they carry! But a bit of whimsy too..

Hey Ya'll..!

Just a little update from North Carolina where I've had an amazing (and long!) day in the factories of Hickory Chair. The people, culture, techniques, philosophies and (of course) the furniture here is amazing. I will share MUCH more with you next week when I'm back in Seattle and able to download my photos (bad blogger, forgot her camera cord!). Luckily, Franki is much better at uploading the pics from her iphone... (i still have early morning sleepy eyes...)

Etsy For The Bedroom

I had a little time over the weekend to search for some new etsy favorites...

For Ms. Annie, whose birthday is next monday... maybe you have room for one more elephant in your collection? He'd match your office color scheme perfectly! (If you don't snag him, I may have to...)

And where else would you want to put this little guy, but on a piece like this?

I'll take this restored nightstand in my favorite spring color and pair it with an Imperial Trellis pillow in tangerine - a perfectly cheerful pair, don't you think?

Some of you have asked about decorating for a child's bedroom - I think this color combo would be fresh and youthful while still being a style that they can grow into. Aqua + tangerine...what do you think??

Love It To Pieces

I'm in desperate need of some new furniture and accessories to make my space a little cozier, and I'm obsessed with black and rich wood tones right now, offset by metallics and (of course) a dash of barely there pastels. Yum... now if I could only put in a fireplace... I'd be set!

Brocade Home in NYC

Brocade Home has been back in business for a while now (after many of us were left wondering where the heck their website had gone for what felt like months!). Well, to top it off, they have opened up a sweetly simple holiday store in NYC for the season...


Apparently I am living on the wrong coast, because if I were there I'd be swooping up little treasures in a second! I love the aesthetic of Brocade - they make romantic modern pieces that do an excellent job of tying traditional decor to current designs. Oh, and if you've never visited their blog, you should pop by. They always find the most fantastic inspirations!

Mirror Mirror

I've mentioned before that I have a thing for credenzas. While my taste doesn't usually fall on the glamorous side - I'm more of a mod fan - I found a stunning mirrored credenza at the amazing online store Pieces and fell in love.

I was so inspired by all their treasures I compiled a little wish list of accessories to go along with it.

Birthday Request #2 - 4: Items Fit for a Queen

Is it too much to ask to own a gorgeous chaise like this?

Surely not. Surely they would just waive the charge of shipping this from Australia, since it's my birthday and all, right? I would put it in my office, as a place to throw myself onto at the end of the day with a big stack of magazines and a nice glass of wine... *sigh*...

Of course, I'd have to wear this while doing so...

Well, really any of the drop dead gorgeous dresses from the Spring Marchesa collection will do...


And then there's the matter of bling. Besides the stunning Vera Wang piece that caused quite the commotion around here, I think I'd also love one of these...


An over the top masterpiece from jewelry designer Miriam Haskell. How could you say no to a cocktail ring like that? Definitely fit for a queen.

White Hot Drama

I've always had a thing for the glamour of white leather. There's just something classic, yet sexy about it to me. You know what makes it even hotter?


A little black trim. (Ok, and the tufting helps.) Stumbled on this awesome room over at emmas designblogg and it inspired me to track down some other similar pieces...

Like this fabulously shaped headboard from Pottery Barn. It wouldn't be nearly as dramatic without the black piping, and the tufting is just perfect.

And how fabulous are these chairs? White has a way of showing of the lines of a piece so well, and the nailheads just make it that much more defined ~ and add a little edge. I'd take either of these for the living room (from Pieces), or dining room (from Windsor Smith Home).

Let Me Entertain You

While I've been cohabiting for nearly two months now, we've yet to furnish. This is proving to be much, much harder than I had originally anticipated. I'm usually pretty clear about my tastes and definitive about my purchases. Adding another person into the mix is throwing me off my power shopper game people!

You see, the perfect credenza continues to ellude us. It must not be too tall, not too wide, not too modern but not too masculine. It needs to function as little entertain center with some storage and enough room for a small TV, all with an air of uniquness and personality. Look at me, it sounds like I'm writing an online dating profile!

This lovely example found in a recent Cookie house tour is fits my description to a tea.

But apparently finding a perfect credenza is liking wanting to meet your favorite movie star. You daydream about it endlessly but it rarely happens in real life.

Any help in our search would be greatly apprecaited!

Credenza Crazy

In the attempt to combine two households the s.o. and I have realized that we do not have enough furniture to put our amass of stuff in or on and so the hunt begins for the perfect credenza/media cabinet/sideboard.

Question: can any of my decor experts define the difference?

Be it a sideboard or a credenza or whatever you want to call it, I'd love to bring home a unique and loved piece like this.

But because I am not the most patient of Craigslist shoppers, there are also the commercial options like this little beauty from West Elm. (btw, they define it as a sideboard)




But I'd prefer to find something with an original flavor. Something like a credenza for a bathroom sink!

Fit For A Queen...

I'd never really looked at the vintage section of Beach Dwelling, but while I was browsing through looking for (duh) beach decor, I found this:


A gorgeous French canopy draped with vintage gold and mauvy linen. I don't know if I'll ever own a house worthy of this, but it certainly makes a statement! And a slightly feminine one at that, so I figured I could included in this weekend of girly goodness.

However, I think I'll take this guy:



I'm not gonna lie - I thought about maxing out my credit card just to have this gilded goodness for a good minute or two. He'd be oh so perfect in my bedroom!

Thank God For My Couch...

Yesterday, I came home sick from work and promptly snuggled myself onto my couch, under my favorite Pottery Barn blanket, and surrounded by my ridiculous pile of pillows. I have to say, had I come home to the couch I had two weeks ago... I think my recovery time would have been considerably longer. (Think dirty cream leathery grossness from college couch).

Instead, my friends, I came home to this beauty...



My first official grown up couch. Super soft, love the tufting, yummy pumice colored couch. I got it from Empiric just before I left my job there, and feel SO lucky to have a custom made sofa to call my own. So while I'm at it, I'll just tell you, go read Annie's blog post from today. She is one of the co-owners of Empiric, an incredible woman, and her love for love makes her a girl after my own heart.

Now heading back to my couch to kick this flu...
