Monday Work Wear {Accessories}

Last week I mentioned I've gone on a shopping hiatus until the (rapidly approaching!) wedding. It's terrible to admit but after only two months I'm already bored with my closet. That is why I'm getting on the accessorize bandwagon. It's the quickest and simplest way to make something old new again and Apartment 34's newest sponsor, Stella & Dot has exactly what I need.

I've decided I'm going to rely on the jacket this spring. It gives me the versatility my closet really needs right now. Adding a perfect accessory or two would provide so many options all in one.

Switch things up with a different tank, a layered T-shirt, or a classic button up and great necklace. Looks for days. Check out Stella & Dot if your wardrobe needs a little pick me up. Just be sure to tell them Apartment 34 sent you.

Happy Monday!

Happy {Playful} Weekend & the Winner Is...

My dears, did this week fly by for you as quickly as it did for me?? I don't understand how we're not only at the end of a week but the end of February! Eek! I'm going to do my very best to slow down and enjoy a patch of free time this weekend.

HAPPY (PLAYFUL) WEEKEND

Weekends are for one thing... kicking off your heels and enjoying the part of life that doesn't have to take things too seriously!

... Green striped stocking optional, of course. I'm hoping to add a little playtime to my workload this weekend as I catch up with some out of town friends and (hopefully) get a few hours in the sunshine. I hope you all enjoy some playtime of your own, and thank you all so so much for your sweet comments yesterday on my bedroom post! Check out the comments section for my answers to all your questions.

cassandra

Happy Friday luvies!

ROOM OF THE WEEK 2.25

This week's room is going to be a little special... not because it's ultra fabulous or extraordinary, but because it's mine... all mine!
Well, let me rephrase that.. it's ours. Me and the boy's. We started with beige walls and a mattress on the floor and made it this! A peaceful little haven (especially compared to the saturated color in our living room) for sweet dreams and lazy mornings.
The room was inspired by these shell illustrations that I picked up years ago from a sweet little shop on Orcas Island that are now perched on the dresser. Soft colors and subtle beachy accents, natural textures and - of course - a little bit of glamour were the elements I used. We also did a lot of DIY, refinishing the vintage nightstands in two-tone, spraying out the knobs on the Ikea dresser in a brassy gold, and slipcovering a thrift store side chair. Our biggest splurge was the West Elm jute headboard ... an early surprise birthday gift from my honey! So... what do you think?? Ready to move in?

Follow up for the ladies who've asked... the paint color is Valspar Lava Stone, the gold piece above the window is a four-leaf clover I bought for my boy (yes, he's Irish), I used a simple spray paint for the knobs in 'brass' (much better than gold), the lamps are pier1, and the 'for like ever' poster in gold (yes, gold!) and cream was a limited edition run that they did years ago... I don't believe it's available anymore.

Loving Some Luxury

I don't think I've mentioned yet, but since the wedding is just around the corner I've gone on a shopping hiatus - exceptions only being wedding related essentials. For two months it'd been going really well....but now I feel my resolve weakening.

In attempt to resist the urge, I'm tiding myself over by lusting after some luscious labels - from afar of course.

A touch of luxury never hurt anyone though, right?

Speaking of luxurious, check out my guest post on the lush and lovely blog Bright, Bold & Beautiful. You'll find a bounty of fabulousness there!

SWEET SLICES OF INSPIRATION

I've always loved this editorial from Martha Stewart where bits of ribbon, paper and more are put together to create inspiration for wedding cakes!
This first one is my favorite - black and white stripes, kelly greens and aqua blues - what's not to love? Of course, I never like to take anything at face value, so this board? This board is the perfect inspiration for my office space. Soothing, but inspirational, with my signature color.
Now, this board would actually work for my favorite wedding colors! Corals and pinks with warm greys and browns... but wouldn't it be lovely as a living room too? Not to mention half my summer wardrobe... And this simple, fresh board? This is for the breakfast nook... or maybe the guest room? Layers of antique eyelet and french blues ... let's be honest, this one could go just about anywhere! It's an instant classic.

A Sweet Giveaway

Maybe it's leftover sentiment from Valentine's Day or the fact that I'm exactly two months out from our wedding, but my heart is a ball full of mush these days. That's why I’m so excited about today's giveaway from the t.ruffle girls.

The t.ruffle girls are all about sweetness, so I'm particularly giddy to gift two note card sets to one lucky sweetheart. Each set is a trio of four-by-six delights, sitting prettily on velvet matte cardstock and accompanied by three envelopes all in white. and while our little cards love to travel, they're also thrilled to hang out on walls and inspiration boards.

Leave a comment for your chance to win. A name will be selected at Random at noon on Friday, February 26. Be sure to visit the t.ruffles shoppe for your very own take-away treats. and stop by the sweeterie, where they make candy for your soul. Twice daily!

TROPICAL TURQUOISE...

Is it the fact that our weather here lately has felt so spring-like? Or that my countdown to our Mexico vacation is t-minus 2 months? Either way, I feel like injecting some serious tropical pop to everything right now! From casual ensembles...
To home decor... And simple, lovely tabletops...
Don't you love how the change of seasons always brings the opportunity for a fresh look??

Wedding Wednesday {Honeymooning}

With only two months of wedding planning to go it's easy to get sucked into the minutia. But one can't forget I've got a honeymoon to plan too! Well, my honey is actually planning it, but there are still wardrobe choices to be made.

When the Lauren Moffatt spring line landed in my inbox I was so thrilled to discover they may have taken care it for me!

Add a mango margarita to any one of these looks and call me good to go.

I LOVE...

I've been in love with so many of the simple yet wonderfully detailed lamps created by Arteriors for as long as I can remember. They do an amazing job of creating lighting for those who want to stay on top of trends, as well as those who are seeking something more classic. They strike the perfect balance in their designs, creating more adventurous styles (meaning color, scale or pattern) in simple shapes and vice versa. But of their whole catalog, this one really takes the cake for me...
Picture 3

As someone who can be horrible about committing to one color, I think this lamp is the solution. A pop of yellow? Blue? Coral? It's all in here, and in a way that's subtle enough that when your furniture changes, this won't have to. I'm seriously considering it for the living room - it would match the blue in our rug perfectly, and and be an incredible statement piece amongst our very neutral furnishings!

I'm Loving...

A killer DIY before and after.

I need to uncover my latent flea market gene because this is too awesome!

SURFER CHIC

We've had the pink hair discussion here before. Let's just say it's a good thing I'm not blonde because there's no way I can even attempt to pull off this look with my brunette locks. A little bit lighter, however, and I might be willing to give it a go...
I just love the dip-dyed tresses and surfer chic style of this shoot - the clothes, the bright pops of neon... they have me dreaming of my youth. Days spent on the beach in the 80's rocking plastic neon green ray ban knockoffs and flirting with blue eyeshadow...

Breath of Open Air

Kitchens with open shelving get me every time and these may be some of the best examples I've spotted yet.

Gorgeous flooring, apron sinks, amazing lighting options and subway tile aren't half bad either. If any of these kitchens were mine I'd never leave it again!

FABULOUS FACETS

Why limit gorgeous geometric facets to your gems when you could have them everywhere?
