SERIES SUBMISSION: PAS DE DEUX

Let's be honest. Half the fun of cooking up fabulous recipes or mixing up tasty drinks is all about what you're pairing them with. Beautiful linens purchased on a trip to Europe? A set of handmade dishes from a local pottery artist? Even the music plays a role... which is exactly how Shelley of Pas de Deux approaches her fabulous cocktail recipe she's sharing with us today...
Come Fridays, I often like to make a formal toast to the weekend (doesn't everyone?), but as of late I find myself looking for something new and light. This week while puttering around the kitchen, I perused the iPod for a few melodies from Pink Martini's Sympathique album and mixed up an Elderflower Cordial of sorts using this St.Germain recipe...
  • 2 parts brut champagne
  • 1 1/2 parts St. Germain
  • 2 parts sparkling water or club soda
Fill a tall Collins glass with ice. Add Champagne first, then St-Germain, then Club Soda. Stir completely. Garnish with a lemon twist, making sure to squeeze essential oils into the glass.

St. Germain elderflower liquor is also lovely mixed with champagne for Sunday Brunch (and I must mention at this point that the bottle itself is soooo pretty that I just had to purchase it!). Play with the ratios to your liking, but chances are, you'll like it too. Yes indeed, this weekend is off to an enjoyable start...
