Kylie writes the fabulously put-together Bandelle Blog, (an extension of her jewelry design studio by the same name), where one of my favorite features is her 'Double Take' series. This talented gal pulls amazing interior inspiration from TV shows and films and puts them together in the best little posts! I adore them!!
So, naturally, Kylie's picks for Color of the Year were taken straight from the silver screen...
Over the break I watched To Catch a Thief, the 1955 classic film starring Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. The colors of the drive they took along the beautiful Côte d’Azur must have seeped into my subconscious because all I keep seeing as I look for inspiration for 2009 is (a) the apricot of Grace Kelly's resort-style ensemble; (b) the neutral leather of her Sunbeam Alpine; (c) a cool sophisticated gray of Mr. Grant's suit; and (d) the invigorating blue of the Mediterranean.

Neutrals may be enhanced with a touch of glimmer, as Cassandra suggested yesterday, or have a welcoming and calming buttery hue. In my opinion, neutrals have the potential to create the ultimate level of sophistication whether it be in your wardrobe or around your home (now if I could only pull off that sunhat!).

The sun kissed apricot has all of the softness of a pink parasol but the energy of a delicious orange. This delightful hue can bring a burst of light to our palettes, as demonstrated in the black-and-white kitchen pictured here.

For some intensity in 2009, think of the crystal clear waters of the Côte d’Azur. Regardless of the day I'm having, this color always seems to perk me up. Luckily we may be seeing more of it this year.

And lastly, all we have to do is picture the suave Cary Grant in a gray suit. Pinstripes, plaid, herringbone, or a solid charcoal -- simply perfect and a great compliment in whichever shape or form.
Oh, *sigh*. Grace Kelly and Cary Grant? How could you go wrong with this forecast? Fantastic choices and illustrations, Kylie! Thank you so much for joining in on the predictions. Well, readers - what do you think? Have you made your own choices for color of the year? We'll return in on Monday with one last post and a little wrap up. Then... let the voting begin!
