Happy Weekend!

After a rushed week of feeling rather frazzled and dowdy, I'm going to take time out for a little luxuriousness this weekend.

I'd feel shiny and new after a hot night out on the town followed by blissful sleep in  sheets with 500 thread count.

I hope you enjoy a touch of luxury this weekend!

Right Now

It's chilly out, there is a bluebird sky overhead, and I wish I jaunting about town wearing this ensemble.

Don't you?

Happy (Full) Weekend!

So many little and big plans for this weekend...

Perhaps I'll break out the wellies and enjoy some time by the lake if the sun is shining. Or even if it's not...

On Saturday, I'll be attending an event that I used to help organize every year, the Ronald McDonald House Hockey Challenge, benefiting some of the most amazing, positive, and strong children and families I've ever met. (I'm sure there will be photos for you next week!) If you're looking for a way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon... join us!

Sunday will be a mini roadtrip with Erin for a much overdue visit to Carol at Gatherings - one of my lovely sponsors here at coco+kelley! I can't wait to see her amazing store!

Of course, if I had my way, I'd be dancing around in a sundress in 80 degree weather... but I suppose that will have to wait for summer to really arrive...

I hope your weekend is fabulously full as well!! Any wonderful plans?

A Classic

My weekend will be filled with more planning for my sister's pending nuptials and in my never-ending search for online inspiration I stumbled upon this exquisite dress that I just had to share with ya'll.

I've jumped into the wedding dress debate a bit, but if a girl's gonna go big, this is the way she ought to do it. Do you see that bustling? Total poof perfection.

A Feathery Giveaway!

Hi my lovelies! I have a very fun little giveaway for today!

First of all: confession. I've been coveting a feathery headband for months now, and have yet to purchase one. I blame it on my total inability to decide on a color. But, when I saw this little piece of gorgeousness, I knew it was absolutely perfect for a little coco+kelley giveaway!

coco+kelley giveaway!
Yes, the green is what got me. But, even better yet, I think this one will look good on everyone! Brunettes, blondes and redheads rejoice.

Such a fun little piece to add to the accessories mix, don't you think?

All you have to do to enter is pop over to Kelsi's fun Etsy Shop, Style Smith and leave a comment here letting us know either...

*1. What your favorite piece is in the shop or
*2. What your dream one-of-a-kind creation would be.

Winner will be drawn this weekend, so hop to it! (PS, I am looooving her fascinators too!)

Room of the Week 2.26

When I woke up this morning, I knew this had to be the Room of the Week today...
ngong house via alkemie
I stumbled on this room via Alkemie in the middle of the winter, and knew I would save it for brightening my mood when I needed a little dose of sunshine. With more snow on the ground this morning, it's definitely time!! I can't wait to have wide open windows and a warm summer breeze blowing through....

More Couture Details

A few weeks ago, I shared a few of my favorite details from the couture shows... well, I had to add a few more, because there was so much yummy goodness going on...

While we were all completely enthralled by the paper flowers at the Chanel show, there were a few other magnificent details to fall in love with too.

My favorites? The chic black and white pattern above and the totally 80's gloves below. Only in Chanel could you combine the two and get away with it!

For the record... I can't believe more actresses weren't sporting some gorgeous Elie Saab designs at the Oscars. But, in keeping with the very white trend we saw, these two would probably have been my picks... (Oh, and since you asked, loved Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway. And Angie's green jewels. Of course.)

Another look I'm loving? Black flowers. While floral patterns are popping up everywhere for spring, us girls who look best in black can still get away with the trend... a little goth style.

And finally... this dress from Dior had me thinking of teacups the second I saw it. Such a fun little detail to have the underside of a skirt displaying a beautiful pattern.

Still trying to catch up with all the Fall'09 shows! You can expect some posts on them in the next few weeks... from what I've seen, there's lots to love!

Bold and Bright

I woke up to a winter wonderland (again!) and the snow continues to fall. You know I love my grey, but enough is enough! This is making me crave some color to punch up my white washed world.

I'd be willing to brave the elements in this bright scarf, killer bag and purple ankle boots.

And I'd be more willing to stay home snuggled up in PJs drinking coffee and baking away if my kitchen were similarly bright and cheery!

Screen Time

Requirement for my dream home #1: Light airy spaces. Preferably with elements to keep those spaces feeling even more open, like these fantastic screens...

As you can tell just by looking at my banner, I love simple repeated designs like the screens used in this home by Philip Galanes. Much more visually interesting than a wall!

While many cultures use this concept in their own traditional styles, the funny thing is that I'm drawn to them because it's such a Southern California thing (like the entrance to the Parker in Palm Springs!). The designs remind me of the cinder block fences and entrances around the neighborhood in Venice Beach where I grew up.

So, maybe it's an element of nostalgia that makes me really love this look? What do you think? Is it too retro for you, or just as cool as ever?

Feeling Naughty

Just a little decor porn to get your motor running this morning.

Who wouldn't want to wake up to lovely light from some rockin' lamps, surrounded by killer art and feel the warm touch of (faux!) fir underfoot.

Now that I think about it I'd probably end up staying in bed all day admiring my beautiful surroundings. Eh, productivity is overrated anyway.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock

I'm not a big collector of...well...anything. (Except maybe pretty dresses.) But I am so drawn to these small collections of well-designed clock hands for some inexplicable reason...

clock hands
Their delicate designs seem just perfect when all paired together. Perhaps you could string them into a little garland or mobile?

Or, place them in a vintage frame and make your own little work of art? I think I love them because they remind me of beautiful ironwork. Their patterns and designs would make beautiful pillows, china... oh yes. The wheels are turning...

Ok, Fine.

I guess winter can stick around just a little longer...

sartorialist
As in just long enough for me to recreate this outfit with a little digging at Forever21 and some vintage shopping. And a reason to love (or at least pretend to try and embrace) 43 degree weather for the next few weeks. Not to mention that I haven't had a chance to do the long gloves/short sleeved jacket look. Fab!

Finding those adorable booties and gorgeous grey clutch though... that could be another adventure in itself.

Hot for Hats

Maybe it's brought on by my recent obsession with birdcage veils (check out the most fabulous one here!), but I'm adding hats to my must-have accessory list for spring, especially after spotting the Maria Bonita collection.

I'd top off this perfect ensemble with a fedora cooly angled over one eye and be set for an afternoon of shopping in Capri or Buenos Aires!

IPhone Awesomeness

I don't know if IPhone could get any better (I'm so highly addicted to mine) but it just got prettier!

If you're like me and dying for spring, hop over to the paper pony and download her lovely flower images for your wallpaper. Then every time you go to check your email you'll smile!

Dripping with Grace (And Glamour)

I first fell in love with the fantastic designs of Winifred Grace last fall, so I was thrilled when I got a peek at her latest collection...

It seems that I can't get enough of beach-inspired hues these days, so Winifred's spring line is totally tugging at my senses. Keeping with her signature look of mixed oxidized silver chains, this collection features soft blues, greens and pinks of alabaster swarovski crystal chains mixed with a little gold filled accents...

The touch of opals and pearls on some pieces is just perfection. Like a little treasure trove of goodies to drape around your neck and wrist, or dangle from your ears...

Rooms From the Runway: High Contrast

Loving the look of bright white walls contrasted with deep rich wood tones, like these rooms...
high contrast wood on white
sources *1. anna spiro *2.domino *3. martha stewart living *4. styling ???

The most important piece of this puzzle? A little pop of color - whether it's vibrant blues, pretty pastels, or a rainbow spectrum. It makes a perfect palette for a creative summer ensemble that reminds me of the islands...

high contrast rooms from the runway
Take a white shift dress (James Perse) and add contrasts accordingly! The Jimmy Choos, belt by Oscar de la Renta, and ring by RingsEclectic represent the dark of the wood, while the aqua necklace from Maline Berger and clutch from Mulberry lighten things up, add interest, and bring it all together. Now all I need is a hot summer night...

Geek to Chic

I've only just begun wading through the spoils of Fashion Week. I like to savor all the fabulousness

I was immediately drawn in by Jenni Kayne's entire collection. I'm loving it for its simplicity, lack of over-the-top trends, and for those fantastic glasses! If only I could pull off the look.

Does anyone else notice how wearable these looks would be right now? Why must you make me wait, Jenni!

Portraits of Love

Adoring these unconventional wedding portraits from photographer Dustin Todd...

if i let my hair go crazy natural... it would look like this.

fantastic colors. anonymous portrait. very cool.

yes please, to it all. so chic.

*ps - the music on his site is fantastically loungy. perfect for my currently rainy day...

Gorgeous Garlands...

The bed I have at the moment was my grandmother's, and is so not my style. The oversized frame and headboard make it a little overwhelming, and formal, so to soften things up I've been thinking about draping delicate paper garlands across the strong wood...
boats and pennants1
frilly garlands
butterfly garlands
Wouldn't they look lovely draped across the curves and posts of the bed?
