Lagerfeld's 'Coco on the Lido'

The Chanel 2010 Resort collection might have been one of the most romantic escapist moments in runway history, and that's even without the clothing. Karl Lagerfeld's true genius once again prevailed as he timed the show to begin just as the sun set on the Venice boardwalk, while editors' shoes filled with sand and bare cafe bulbs lit the wood runway...

The lighting was such perfection - a soft, warm glow that captured the dreamy nostalgic nature of the collection. A little Gastsby-esque if you ask me. But Karl explained that he wanted to capture, "the café society of the thirties and the life Chanel lived here."

Even the pieces covered in logos (usually a bit of a turn off) spoke to me in this show like the dress above. And I loved Karl's playful touches as well...

Wearable resort wear and insane hair. And the infamous Venetian masquerade accessories replaced with Chanel sunglasses. Just fantastic. I could share the entire collection with you, but I don't want to miss a detail, so check out the galleries for your own little escape on this Monday morning.
