Room of the Week 7.31

This week's room isn't quite exactly a room...

... it's even BETTER. It's a large open room on a boat. On the Nile. All for you to sit back, relax and enjoy...

That's your boat (love the red and white sails!) , and that's the view from your bedroom.

I suppose when the scenery is just gorgeous, you can keep the decor fairly simple... but that didn't stop them from hanging chandeliers!

Not to mention styling things up a bit to add a little taste of luxury. I love how everything has been kept low to the ground - practical and very aesthetically pleasing.

You can book your vacation right here, found via here.

The Big 1-0-0

I'm jumping for joy (in some hot YSL shoes) because today marks Apt#34's 100th post!

It all started when cassandra and I thought we were going to renovate my cute little condo. Now the apartment is no longer pink (the radiator still is) and I no longer live there!

You see, life did as life does.  It has taken me in an entirely new direction. Now I have the decor challenges of the combining of the things with my s.o. and even more challenging, the combining of the style aesthetics.  At least I have a lot more square footage to play with this time!

I'm continually amazed by how fun it is to blog about what's caught my eye, what I'm contemplating, or who is inspiring me today.  Most often it's something a reader, a lurker or one of the fan favorites bloggers that I deeply admire have uncovered, so for that I thank all of you. Apt#34 was great fun while I lived there, it's been great fun sharing it with you and I can't wait to see where I, and this blog, go next.

I do hope you'll come along.

It's going to be great!

Color Me [Red Hot]

I've decided to have a go at a new series here that I'll tag under 'Color Me'... just a little snapshot of how I'm feeling as I find it...

Today, red is calling to me. Sexy and summery, I just want to languish in the sunshine, and show off my tan at night. If only I could work it like Camilla Belle in her Peter Som. I'd give anything for that dress! Outdoor patio via Marie Claire Maison, and beautiful summer bouquet via (who else?) Saipua.

Lovelies from Laura Elizabeth

Back in May, when I was in my friend Lyndsy's wedding, my bridesmaid gift was a beautiful pair of earrings by the lovely and talented Laura Stuart,...

Needless to say, the earrings completed the ensemble, and I'm even coveting another pair in the red agate for fall. I love the way they swing so sassy!

I've been lucky enough to spend many a fun evening with this amazing girl (and her amazing guy - more on that later!), so when I saw her latest eco-friendly and fall collections for her company, Laura Elizabeth, I knew it was about time I posted on her designs.

These stunning necklaces are my absolute favorites at the moment. C'mon... you know you want one! The best part is that they are a part of her eco line, with the agate being lined with recycled gold and the small leaf preserved in recycled gold as well.

This line also includes necklaces and earrings that are just the leaves themselves, which are incredibly delicate and beautiful...

I also love Laura's simplistic designs, because, when it comes to jewelry I'm a pretty simple girl...

These two are a part of her signature necklace series. She also has these beautiful signature earrings...

And a few new pieces for fall...

You can, of course, browse all the lines on her website where they are available for purchase.

I'm warning you though... you might just fall in LOVE!

Learning New Tricks

I've been friends with cassandra long enough now that hopefully I've learned something from her keen style eye. In an homage to her rooms from the runway I'm going to try my hand at it.  Let me know what you think!

Cass and I were just discussing how our mood is already trending toward fall.  I could easily don the warm tans and grays of this Fall Preview dress by Oak.

And after a hot night out in the dress the dark floors, the fireplace and the cozy blanket in this room make me want to nestle right in!

Keep Portland Weird

It's the loud and proud motto of PDX. And while eccentric personalities may abound, Portland is also full of very cool things. I just spent a fun filled weekend exploring the blocks of refurbished breweries, walking through the downtown parks (called parkblocks!), and enjoying one yummy foodie destination after another. I had such a great time I wanted to share a few of my favorite P-town things with you.

You probably know uber trendy Ace Hotel.

or uber trendy and totally delicious Stumptown Coffee

But most fun of all, I hunted down the newest Portland treasure, Ink&Peat, the brick and motor store belonging to Pam of Housemartin.

I went in search of some wrapping for a pending baby shower and instead found myself tempted by stunning pillows, handcrafted vases, sweet smelling candles, covet worthy textiles and lovely collections of cards and notebooks - my ultimate weakness.

Ink&Peat is beautifully laid out, expertly resourced and perfectly edited. I wish Pam the best of luck and encourage anyone going through Portland to be sure and stop in!

Late Summer Sunshine...

I will never tire of sunshine... and late summer sunshine might be the very best kind. I think it feels something like this...

via flickr.

And this...

My favorite time is the evening, when the sun is filtering in through the blinds, making you want to curl up on that little sunny spot of the couch, close your eyes, and soak in the last of the warmth, knowing that summer will be leaving us soon.

And when I do, I will throw this over my bikini...

I've always had a love for cozy oversized sweaters that let you feel the cool evening breeze run through them. (The fact that she's wearing it backwards? Even more awesome.)

So in an effort to truly relish the last month of summer, I may be doing less posting, and more of this...

Don't worry, luvies, I promise to be around once a day... I'll just be spending more time in the sunshine and less in the glare of my laptop :)

Feeling Blue

But in a bright and shiny way.

I like blue from head to toe like this stunner from Nino Bauti

On the edges...

and in the details.

Blue is a perfect color for summer, no?

Brazilian Style by Sixx Design

Back in January, I blogged about the incredibly talented Sixx Design (which you can, and should, read about right here).

They are a stylish husband (Robert) and wife (Cortney) team with six (hence the name) adorable children who, apart from their many other projects, decided to create a haven for themselves in the town of Trancoso, Brazil that is truly a blend of natural elements (the home is built from reclaimed mohogany), with modern and rare designer pieces.

What I loved most about the photos when I first saw them was that, while their home is certainly luxurious, it blends with the natural setting, has been kept very simple in its style and decor, and has beautiful open spaces that seamlessly blend the indoors with the out...

Like the open air living and dining areas with high ceilings and huge doorways to the deck. (How amazing are those tables?)

Or a fabulously simple bedroom like this one. Of course, the outdoor spaces are just as perfect...

Love the use of white textiles throughout the home. It keeps it so fresh against all the heavy wood.

Not to mention a fantastic outdoor bar area right next to the pool. Yes, please!!

Of course, living the life of a designer, you have to have a few cool details...

A big thanks to Sixx Design for sharing all these amazing images with me, so that I could share them with you!

Buried

After a weekend in Portland filled with family, friends, parties, food and then packing, moving, unpacking et all I'm a little stacked with chaos at the moment.
