Party Favors for One Special Moment
You get to choose 3 of your favorite fun animals and they will package it all pretty in this sweet little suitcase. Of course, I had to pick the strawberry cause I just love anything pink. This would make an awesome gift for a little one of any age.
As well as children gifts, they offer Party favors for weddings and parties. With the party favors, you can put together a custom package with your choice of felties in colorful gift pails. Imagine the delight on a little party guest's face when they get to leave with one of these!

Life is Like...
Fellow Seattle blogger Stacy over at rockin' la boudoir was offering up a box of her favorite chocolates as her August giveaway, and I won!
To do so I had to openly discuss my guilty pleasure of dumping chocolate chips directly into a jar of peanut butter, but the reward will be sweet.
Thanks Stacy!
Returning Home
For the past few Fridays I've been talking about great summer escapes and fantasy vacations. This weekend we bid farewell to summer, and surprisingly, I think I'm ready. I'm looking forward to boots and coats and sweaters, fall vegetables and cozy nights staying in with a good bottle of wine.
So with a wave and sigh I say goodbye to summer. I can't wait to see what the next season brings!

ban.do for the Bride!
My friend Amy is getting married in Montana in two weeks, and I cannot wait to finally see her. She was my best friend in college, the best roomie ever (same size in everything, and always up for a spontaneous dance party!) and I'm so honored to be one of her bridesmaids.
A few weeks ago she discovered ban.do via my blog when I (along with the rest of everyone in the world) posted on the shop opening in the beginning of August. I then proceeded to (accidentally) delete the post. Whoops. So, today, I bring you a very special ban.do post instead... because Amy just got her very own gorgeous custom piece from Jen and Jamie... I couldn't be more jealous!
It arrived looking like this:
Perfectly packaged in every way.
And here's Amy looking sooooo happy with her beautiful piece of art!
And, of course, the haiku! (One comes with every order ~ isn't that sweet?)
I can't imagine anything more perfect. Thank you so much to the ladies at ban.do for making my Amy so happy!

Room of the Week 8.28
I'm a little late on today's Room of the Week. I almost forgot about it!
Funny how our tastes evolve isn't it? I think my pendulum has swung from Hollywood Regency to ... what do you call this? Designers? I hate the term 'ethnic'... it's more like worldly chic. A bit of a moorish influence, but done lightly. Well, whatever it is, it's calling to my senses. Tapestry cushions on the couch. Amazing tiles (they almost look Greek to me?). Love the pair of chairs too. And the lamps? They almost look craftsman to me (strange). I think what I like most of all is the sunshine pouring through what I imagine to be a huge window or french doors. I'm ready to curl up and take a nap on that sofa right now.
I think I'm seeing a theme here...

Beaded Boho Chic
Speaking of grandma style...
This collection makes me want to raid my grandmother's goodies. Apparently, the next step of boho chic is granny goodness. (For sources, go here.)

Modern Tapestries
Tapestries seem so... well, grandma. And I don't exactly love them in abundance. But, I do love them like this...
Mixing modern wallpaper and pillows with midcentury accent furnishings keeps this room from aging itself. But, the tapestry bedspread combined with the print rug brings in a cozy, lived-in feel, which is what I really love about them.
Beautiful styling from Patrina Tinslay and the pages of toast evoke a fall boudoir.
Dark and dreamy from Lyell and Hint Magazine.

My Favorite Season...
Is hat season.
I absolutely love hats. Especially in the fall.
And especially with shades of aubergine. (My new favorite word, aubergine. It sounds so much better than purple.)
Plus it's always so fabulously in style to have a quirky hat. Wouldn't you agree?
In fact if you have a photo of you in a favorite vintage hat, send it to me. Here's my vintage find from last winter in lovely shades of grey...
Me and Erin, out at my favorite neighborhood spot on Queen Anne. Not the best photo of it, but I couldn't even bring it home from Seattle (afraid it would get crushed!) so this will have to do. There is some sweet detail on the side that you can't see here, plus a vintage hat pin.
Anyone else? (Annie! I know you have some!!)

Who's Got Mayle?
I know I'm not the first to report the sad news that Mayle will be closing its doors at the end of this year. I've been following and coveting the line's beautifully textured dresses, sweaters with the perfect mix of prep and edge, and sweet feminine tops. I spent over a year trying to hunt down just such a sweater...I think it was the fall 2005 line.
I never did track down that sweater, but here are a few of my favorites from the Fall 2008 collection.
I guess I better let myself splurge before it's too late!

Vintage Bowling
In the desert outside of LA there is a little place called Pioneertown. It was built in 1946 as a movie set for Westerns. And amongst the dusty bars and period hotels... there is a bowling alley:
Plus I think I just had a revelation on these lyrics from Counting Crows...
Have I mentioned how much I love Counting Crows? I do. I really really do.
Flickr photos via here and here.
How cool are those vintage pins?
Plus I think I just had a revelation on these lyrics from Counting Crows...
"We drove out to the desert just to lie down beneath this bowl of stars
We stand up in the palace like it's the last of the great pioneer town bars
We shout out these songs against the clang of electric guitars
You can see a million miles tonight
But you can't get very far..."
~ Mrs. Potter's Lullaby

Wedding Avenues Ceremony
Linens play a big role in creating your desired ambiance for an event. They can tie a room together and give it a cohesive feel. Here are some things to keep in mind as you order linens
Wedding Avenues of Lauren and Derek
Timeless, classic, simple. The wedding of Lauren and Derek exemplifies the idea of a simple wedding. Both venues provide natural decor of rustic beauty, they didn’t have an aisle or ceremony seating, everyone just gathered around. Beautiful dahlias provide bursts of color and the bride and groom’s attire is gorgeous, effortless, and stylish. They let the surroundings determine the details of the wedding, such as the twig handled silverware, the woodland cake, and the camp badge favors.
